Have you seen the Threads of Time?
The Threads of Time is a history of Sprowston in embroidery created to mark the transition from the 1000s to the 2000s. These four beautiful 4" x 3" panels include 80 major vignettes, harmonising to make the pieces blend, and 32 feet of lettering.
Having been exhibited in local schools, churches and community venues they have ended their travels and now hang in the Parish Council Offices next to the Library.
There is also a booklet THREADS OF TIME on sale explaining the events depicted, as well as full photography of the motifs, names and faces of the makers and how they made it.

Cemetery Development
The Council have applied for planning permission to develop 2.29ha of land to the East of Sprowston Cemetery and change the use from agricultural land to an extension to the existing cemetery, including maintenance facilities, planning application 10/0868.
Plans can be viewed at Sprowston Parish Council Office.
Dog Fouling on the Rec
Following an increase in the number of complaints received regarding the indiscriminate amount of dog fouling on the Recreation Ground the Council recently debated what course of action to take to improve the situation, including legislation covering Dog Control Orders and enforcement of non removal of dog faeces by dog owners on Council owned land.
Having considered the existing Byelaw operative on the Recreation Ground which states that "a person shall not cause or suffer any dog, belonging to him or his charge to enter or remain on the ground, unless such a dog be and continue to be under proper control, and be effectually restrained from causing annoyance to any person" it was felt that dog owners should be encouraged to clean up by
. stenciling "Bag It Bin It" signage on the paths and access road into the Recreation Ground
. pursuing the enforcement of fines through Broadland District Council under the existing dog order
. placing an article in Sprowston Matters and on the Council's website
. circulating information leaflets to dog owners who use the Council's facilities
.requesting local schools to place an article in their newsletters
and defer a decision to apply for a dog control order under s, 57 of the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005 pending the outcome of these actions.
The park and its facilities are provided for everyone whether it be for a picnic, a game of football, walking the dog or any other recreational activity and all users should respect the enjoyment of others.
